Newcastle Writers Festival 2026

The Newcastle Writers Festival returns from 27–29 March 2026, bringing three days of storytelling, discussion and creativity to venues across the city, including the University of Newcastle NUspace, Conservatorium of Music, and the Civic Playhouse.

Now one of Australia’s largest regional literary festivals, the event celebrates books, ideas and the writers behind them. Across more than 90 sessions, audiences can enjoy panels, performances, readings and workshops featuring some of the country’s most respected and emerging authors.

Whether you’re an avid reader or simply curious, it’s a weekend that reminds us why stories matter.

Stay Inspired in the City
